As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, people up and down the country are struggling to make ends meet and adjust to the ‘new normal’.
That’s why, when we launched the HEINEKEN Community Fund back in April, we hoped that it would provide some much needed support to local charities and make a real difference to the causes close to the hearts of our colleagues, licensees and customers.
At HEINEKEN UK we’ve a track record of supporting communities through Brewing Good Cheer and we wanted to extend this during these unprecedented times. That’s why we launched the HEINEKEN Community Fund, with a £250,000 donation, to help those most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis in the UK.
Simon Amor, Managing Director of HEINEKEN UK said;
“Throughout the crisis we’ve seen pubs adapt to the ever changing environment and continue to support their communities where needed. We’ve also seen local grassroots charities stepping up to deliver vital services to the most vulnerable. They’ve helped to keep the community spirit alive by delivering meals and food parcels to those in need, picking up groceries and medicines for people self-isolating and simply being a voice on the end of a phone for people who are on their own. The HEINEKEN Community Fund has helped to support these charities. It has helped to buy thousands of meals and help make sure that the most isolated felt a little less alone.”
Craigshill Good Neighbours
Craigshill Good Neighbours charity is passionate about providing practical help, social support and volunteering opportunities for socially isolated and vulnerable people in the West Lothian area. The HEINEKEN Community Fund allowed them to receive remote volunteering from some of our colleagues who sent letters, postcards and jokes to the people who usually attend their groups and outings.
Greenwich Mutual Aid
Greenwich Mutual Aid is a volunteer-led group created to support the community, and those in need, during the COVID-19 crisis. They’ve seen a great response from the community and have shown how much they can achieve together with individuals contributing. As an organisation, Greenwich Mutual Aid connect, support, and drive positive social impact for the community that lives, works, supports, and visits the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
It’s been a difficult few months for everyone, so we want to take this opportunity to thank you also to charities such as The Ben, The licensed Trade Charity and The Drinks Trust for supporting our industry throughout the UK.
