Foster's is extending its support for comedy and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, through its second year of partnership with leading festival venue The Gilded Balloon, as the title sponsor of its prestigious amateur comedy competition, So You Think You're Funny?

The sponsorship, which underlines Foster’s long term commitment to discovering and developing up and coming comedy talent, is once again embarking on a nationwide search for the best amateur stand-up comedian on the circuit, showcasing talent in regional heats of the competition in bars and comedy clubs in London, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Birmingham, Brighton, Leicester, Glasgow, Inverness and Dublin.

In previous years, So You Think You’re Funny? has seen the likes of Peter Kay, Lee Mack, Sarah Millican, Johnny Vegas and Jack Whitehall as winners and finalists, and the first prize for the winner of the 2013 title is £2,000 and a place in the Best of British Show at the Montreal Comedy Festival, an event that is closely watched by talent scouts for the American TV networks.

Gayle Harrison, Brand Director – Foster's at HEINEKEN said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with The Gilded Balloon and the esteemed So You Think You’re Funny competition and proud to support and encourage up and coming new talent.”

Foster’s is the leading sponsor of comedy in the UK with a sponsorship portfolio that includes the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, the British Comedy Awards and over 100 hours of Original Comedy programming on Channel 4.

Karen Koren, Director of The Gilded Balloon said, “Foster’s continued support for new comedy is second to none, and after 26 years of So You Think You’re Funny, we hope this relationship will go on and on.”
