Grand National Legends Line Up For Aintree Action

14th February 2013

John Smith's and Aintree have announced the shortlist of ten racing legends who have been nominated by a panel of racing experts for inclusion in the John Smith's Grand National Legends Hall of Fame.

The Legends initiative was launched three years ago to celebrate the human and equine 'Greats' from Grand National history and this year's inductees will join the likes of the late Ginger McCain, Red Rum, Jenny Pitman and Bob Champion.

Go to www.grandnationallegends.com to find out more about this year's nominations and help determine the 5 legends who will be inducted at Aintree on John Smith’s Grand National day.

John Smith’s and Aintree have also confirmed an exciting line-up for the third John Smith’s Aintree Legends charity race which will be held at the Liverpool course on April 6.

Michael and Richard Hills, Kevin Darley and George Duffield join last year's winner, Mick Kinane in an elite group of classic winning flat jockeys taking on former leading jump racing stars. The inaugural race winner Tony Dobbin returns to the action in a field that is guaranteed to be a competitive affair between 12 jockeys with nearly 17,000 career victories between them. The race Aintree Legends Charity Race is run on the flat over 1m 5f as the first race on the John Smith's Grand National card. The event has, to date, raised over £160,000 for The Bob Champion Cancer Trust.
