Sunday footballer wins penalty shoot out against German national keeper in latest Strongbow EARN IT challenge.

Essex amateur footballer Jared Aransibia enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience opportunity when he visited Berlin’s Olympic Stadium to take on the ultimate football challenge – the task of scoring a penalty ‘for England’ against their fiercest football rivals Germany. Jared was mentored by former England player and coach Stuart Pearce in his challenge to fire a spot-kick past Hamburg’s German international goalkeeper Rene Adler, in the Strongbow EARN IT Challenge.

30-year-old Jared, who lives in Chelmsford, was chosen from thousands of applicants in an online competition to take part in an intense training programme laid on by the UK’s leading cider brand, with Pearce providing the mental and physical tools needed beat the 6ft 3in goalkeeper and erase memories of a string of English spot kick misses against Germany.

The challenge, which premiered during the half time ad break of the aptly- timed England v. Germany international friendly on ITV last night (November 19), saw Jared undergo two days of training which saw his stamina levels pushed to the limit by fitness coach and former Olympian sprinter Ade Mafe, topped off by a session with leading sports psychologist Dan Abrahams who helped mentally prepare Jared for his 12 yard challenge.

Their coaching paid dividends when Jared stepped up to confidently place the ball in the back of the net before being ceremoniously rewarded by Stuart Pearce with a pint of Strongbow for stepping up and ‘earning it’.

Jared said: "When I applied to take part in the Strongbow EARN IT Challenge, I never dreamt I would fly off to Berlin to take a penalty in the Olympic Stadium alongside footballing legend Stuart Pearce. I was definitely nervous – it’s a bit different to knocking a ball around with my mates but what an amazing experience! I am just relieved I managed to tuck the ball away in the back of the net and earn some bragging rights!"

Stuart Pearce added:  "We all watch a game from the comfort of our sofa and think we can do better - take that corner or score that penalty. We can all talk a good game but there aren’t many times you get the opportunity to 'walk the walk' like Jared did. Jared was armed with all the physical and mental tools to score the penalty; the rest was down to him.’

The Strongbow football challenge is the second in Strongbow's EARN IT campaign which sees consumers stepping up and taking on a series of high profile personal challenges this year. Go to to see the full video of Jared's Football Challenge in Berlin.
