ARMY CRICKETERS STORM TO INTER SERVICES TRIUMPH AT LORDS

10th June 2014

ARMY CRICKETERS STORM TO INTER SERVICES TRIUMPH AT LORDSServing soldier Captain Storm Green produced a batting performance worthy of his name to help his Army team-mates retain the HEINEKEN-sponsored Inter-Services Twenty20 trophy at Lords. The annual three-way competition sees teams from the Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy compete on the hallowed Lords wicket for the coveted trophy.

Capt. Green’s swashbuckling 101 lit up the crowd on a rain-interrupted day, while cementing his place in the tournament’s history as the first batsman to score a century in the competition and earning the Player-of-the Tournament award.

Nigel Pollard, Head of External Communications, HEINEKEN UK said: “In the 100th anniversary year of the start of World War 1 and just days before the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, we were especially proud to extend our support for Britain’s servicemen and women through this tournament. The proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Soldiers, Sailors and Families; Association (SSAFA) to support the excellent work they undertake to support all three Services and the work they do to look after those who have given so much for our country.”
