HEINEKEN has added Old Mout Alcohol Free cider to its range of ciders and beers.

The news comes after the UK’s leading pub, cider and beer company predicted a boost of £58m to the UK’s pubs, bars and restaurants, over the next three years, if they offer a wider range of low and no alcohol options.

Old Mout, the New Zealand-born cider, has added a Berries & Cherries Alcohol Free choice to its range.  More than one million extra people have chosen to abstain from alcohol in the last four years, and the low and no alcohol beer category is now worth £36M to the UK on-trade[1].  Over 64,000[2] pubs now have a low and no alcohol option in their fridges.  Last year the brewer launched Heineken® 0.0 in pubs and bars nationwide.

Emma Sherwood-Smith, cider director at HEINEKEN, said: “We’ve seen the low and no alcohol beer market grow significantly in the last few years, so we wanted to give cider lovers a great tasting, quality, alcohol free option.   The launch of Old Mout Alcohol Free comes just in time for summer and is made in exactly the same way as regular cider at our plant in Herefordshire.”

Laura Willoughby MBE, founder of Club Soda, the mindful drinking movement, praised the move. She said: “Choice and variety is key in the alcohol-free market and there are not really any options for the cider lovers. Now there is one!  It is a great way to start your evening if you are looking to make it more sessionable and a grown-up swap if you are moderating, driving or need to get up early the next day!”

Old Mout Berries & Cherries Alcohol Free is widely available now in pubs and supermarkets across the country.
