HEINEKEN SHORTLISTED IN BITC RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS AWARD

4th May 2015

HEINEKEN UK has been shortlisted in the Building Stronger Communities category at the Responsible Business Awards as part of Responsible Business Week. The recognised project is Act for Addaction which in 2014, for the first time, involved HEINEKEN colleagues in the company's long-term partnership with Addaction to tackle alcohol misuse, by increasing colleague active engagement in the issues and raising funds for the charity.

HEINEKEN also ranked highly in the CR Index, scoring 95%. The CR Index is the UK's leading voluntary benchmark of responsible business practices. It assesses all aspects in relation to community, environment, marketplace and workplace issues. It is one of only four companies in the food and sector to be ranked, and is the only alcohol company, reflecting our commitment to taking into account social and environmental issues when making strategic business decisions.

David Forde, UK Managing Director, said: David Forde said: "Growing our business responsibly and sustainably is core to our business strategy. To score so highly in the CR Index is a real credit to the work we've done over the past number of years and an acknowledgment of our evolving sustainability strategy, Brewing a Better World.

"I'm most proud however of the recognition for our colleague led initiative Act for Addaction, which last year brought our colleagues closer to our long term partner, leading alcohol misuse charity, Addaction. Their remarkable support and commitment to fundraising and volunteering for the charity raised more than £178,000 and is currently supporting three Addaction projects."

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: "The 2015 CR Index shows us that we are moving in the right direction and companies are now increasingly integrating responsible business practice into decision making right across the business. To truly change business culture, companies need to engage their people to embrace a different way of doing business with responsible values at the core. So it is especially encouraging this year that we have seen a significant increase in the representation of corporate responsibility, both at board level and amongst the generation of future leaders that will shape the businesses of tomorrow.

I congratulate HEINEKEN UK for achieving its ranking and look forward to working together to create a fairer society and a more sustainable future."
