Prominent city centre pub set for major refurbishment
25 October 2021
The Peacock Hotel on Mansfield Road, closed since August 2020 due to the pandemic, is earmarked for a major refurbishment in 2022 by HEINEKEN owned Star Pubs & Bars1 once a new operator is found to take it on. The investment will see the pub transformed into a trendy city centre bar.
Located opposite The Victoria Shopping Centre and walking distance from Nottingham Trent University, once refurbished The Peacock will cater for shoppers, students, city dwellers and office workers. It will offer all-day food and barista style coffee as well as a great range of cask ales, craft beers, and an extensive gin and cocktail menu, making it an ideal place to socialise in the evening.
A Victorian gem full of amazing Victorian features, The Peacock hotel is the last pub in Nottingham to have a push bell for customers to order drinks behind the bar. As part of the upgrade, the bell will be restored for customers to use again, and fireplaces renovated and reinstated.
The look and feel of the pub after its revamp will be stylish, trendy and sumptuous with a main bar and dining room. The eclectic finishes will include a botanical carpet, a mix of deep buttoned velvet covered fixed seating and free-standing wooden tables and chairs, a stripped timber bar and dark panelled walls with framed artwork.
The exterior is also being given a facelift with new lighting and burgundy and gold signage. There will be a small secret courtyard garden at the rear for alfresco eating and drinking.
Says Craig Nevins, Business Development Manager: “We’re keen to see The Peacock Hotel reopen as its full potential has yet been realised. We just need the right operator to take it on. The Peacock Hotel’s prominent location opposite the Victoria Shopping Centre, the ongoing development in the area and the investment in the pub to transform it into a trendy bar with all day food make it an attractive business opportunity. And for those interested in city centre living, the pub also has a three-bedroom flat.
“Applicants will need to have hospitality experience and ideally have worked in a city centre bar or restaurant. Anyone interested in finding out more about taking on The Peacock Hotel should contact Star Pubs & Bars on 08085 94 95 96. Alternatively, details of The Peacock Hotel can be found on the Star Pubs & Bars website, www.starpubs.co.uk.”
