BRITS GO MAD FOR MURPHY’S AS STOUT SALES ROCKET BY OVER 1,000%

Brits can’t get enough of Murphy’s Irish Stout - with sales in pubs soaring more than 1,000%1 as drinkers flock to the classic Irish pint ahead of St Patrick’s Day.

The smooth, creamy stout from Cork has seen a huge surge in popularity after HEINEKEN UK surprised London pubs by handdelivering emergency kegs during a busy Christmas spell, becoming one of the most talkedabout pints of the past year. And good things certainly come to those who wait as Murphy’s is now pouring in more than 2,000 pubs across the UK to meet continuing demand.

Murphy’s isn’t just booming in pubs - supermarket sales have also taken off, with the brand now holding over 5% of the stout market less than a year after hitting shelves2.

Will Rice, On-Trade Director for HENIEKEN UK says: ““We’ve seen an extraordinary reaction from drinkers. People love the smooth, creamy taste of Murphy’s, and with St Patrick’s Day coming up, it’s on track to be one of the most popular pints of the spring. Murphy’s is no longer a cult favourite - it’s firmly establishing itself as a major player in the stout category.”

Publicans agree that Murphy’s is fast becoming a musttry pint. Tim Skinner, Publican at The Devonshire Arms, said: “We’re seeing consumers explore beyond the traditional options - customers are actively asking for it. Murphy’s is a greattasting stout that stands out, and once people try it, they come back for more.”
