HEINEKEN 0.0 HOPS AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION WITH 1000 TAPS NATIONWIDE

Heineken raises the bar for no and low accessibility with the installation of its 1000th tap

  • Heineken 0.0 now available on tap in 1,000 pubs nationwide – more than any other 0.0 brand in the UK
  • After three years Heineken 0.0 is now available in one in three pubs across the UK
  • Installed at London’s Clerk & Well pub, the historic 1,000th tap was unveiled by 0.0 ambassador, Gareth Bale in partnership with Stonegate Group
  • To celebrate the landmark moment Heineken united over 100 of the nation’s pubs and breweries together to set a Guinness World Record™ title for the largest simultaneous pint pour in history

To celebrate the market-leading achievement of 1,000 0.0 taps, Heineken®, its 0.0 ambassador Gareth Bale, and over 100 Star Pubs managed-operated pubs, part of the Just Add Talent estate, joined forces to set a new Guinness World Record™ title for the most people pulling a pint online simultaneously.

As part of a strict online adjudication process, a Guinness World Record judge oversaw the groundbreaking moment, as 114 publicans and brewers from across the UK simultaneously poured pints of either Heineken or Heineken 0.0 in sync via a mass video call.

Earlier in the day, a commemorative 1,000th Heineken 0.0 draught tap was unveiled by Gareth Bale at Stonegate Group-managed pub, The Clerk & Well, where the celebrations continued. The milestone installation marks a monumental step in Heineken’s mission to normalise alcohol-free beer by making it more accessible. As a result, one in three pubs nationwide now serves Heineken 0.0, either on tap or in bottles, meaning wherever you are in the UK, a refreshing pint is never far away.

The pub is at the heart of British culture, and part of its enduring appeal lies in its ability to adapt to the times and the changing tastes of the public. With over a third (33.5%) of UK adults drinking no and low alternatives more frequently than a year ago , today, no and low-alcohol beer is rapidly becoming a way of life. The demand for no and low draught increased a stagging 105% from 2023 to 2024 alone , and, thanks to innovations led by Heineken in the UK, a thousand pubs across the country are now pouring pints of Heineken 0.0% beer on tap, making Heineken 0.0 the largest no and low-lager brand in the UK . Accounting for 28% of no and low lager value sales, Heineken is twice the size of its closest competitor  in terms of volume share in the no and low lager category .

Nick Marks, Group Commercial Director at Stonegate Group, said: “To be able to offer our punters Heineken 0.0 on draught is a massive step forward for us, and the 1000th instal a huge step forward for category, which is why we’re beyond proud that our premises is the home to the historic 1,000th tap. We’re an inclusive pub that celebrates choice. We pride ourselves on knowing and giving our loyal customers what they want, and as a 0.0 pint that doesn’t compromise on taste, we know this will be a popular addition to our line up and reinforce the Clerk & Well’s commitment to offering great drinks for everyone.”

Former Welsh football legend who famously played for Real Madrid and Tottenham who led the celebrations said: “As a bar owner it’s fantastic to see 0.0% beer taps becoming the norm, taking their rightful place on the bar alongside traditional beer taps. It means people can walk into their local and have the chance to enjoy a proper pint, whether it contains alcohol or not – there’s always a choice. That’s what Heineken’s Big Pour symbolises: choice. I was delighted to see so many pubs taking part in setting this world record. It represents a great show of support for pubs and in giving the public what they want.”

Will Rice, On Trade Director for Heineken UK, said: “We’ve spent nearly a decade investing in no and low beer to ensure people have a genuine, great-tasting choice. But if we want non-alcoholic beer to be treated the same as other beer, we need to give it the same visibility too. Putting 0.0% beer on draught in pubs and housed alongside regular pints is essential as it helps removes the stigma and makes ordering an alcohol-free option at the bar just as natural as any other. That’s our mission and its one we’re utterly committed to. ‘The Big Pour’ is a symbol of that, and we won’t be stopping at 1,000 taps. The more taps, the better for the public and the better for publicans.”
